Backyard Travel Release New Tour: Journey Chiang Mai to Kengtung Myanmar

Backyard Travel, Asia’s most innovative tour company, has today released news of a new multi-country trip taking travelers through North Thailand and East Myanmar, visiting some of the most fascinating rural areas of Southeast Asia, allowing numerous insider-experiences of lesser seen regions.

Travelers on the five-day, four-night tour will first discover the natural beauty of Northern Thailand, making stops at the sublime limestone caves of Chiang Dao, Tha Ton and Mae Salong with the opportunity to interact with the local hill tribes such as the Yao and Akha people.

The customizable tour then reaches the Golden Triangle where travelers will discover the confluence of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers, a meeting point for the nations of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. Here travelers can take the opportunity to pay a short visit to Don Sao Island, a part of Laos.

The tour then crosses the Thailand/Myanmar border at Mae Sai and takes travelers into the majestic countryside around Kengtung. While in Kengtung travelers will enjoy many insider experiences, including taking a trek along a lesser-seen route, stopping at an isolated monastery and the Loi hill tribe village of Wan Nyat.

“The carefully constructed multi-country tour offers travelers a unique opportunity to scratch beneath the surface of Southeast Asia and investigate the fascinating lifestyle of various regional hill tribes,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “The fully customizable tour transcends both borders and cultures as travelers cross from Thailand to Myanmar to appreciate the subtle differences between the two fascinating nations.”
