Honeymoon Bliss On South Africa’s Garden Route

Fancourt, one of South Africa’s top resorts, idyllically situated on the famous “Garden Route”, is the perfect setting for a heavenly honeymoon, especially when combined with a few days in Cape Town.

It is just a short flight or a scenic drive from the Mother city to the historic town of George - and Fancourt is the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions of the Garden Route rather than moving from hotel to hotel.

b87432b7c70c9398_400x400arThe resort is superbly landscaped on 613 hectares of lush countryside with the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as its backdrop.  The original 150 year-old homestead “Blanco House”, which is a National Monument, was meticulously remodelled in 2011 to create the all-suite boutique “Manor House at Fancourt”. Its combination of old-world charm and contemporary comforts provide guests – and especially honeymooners looking for that extra bit of privacy and pampering - with a sublime, unprecedented experience.

The Manor House has just 18 luxury suites, made up of 1 Master Suite, 4 Grand Suites and 13 Luxury Suites – all with private lounges and 24-hour butler-service. Traditional high tea is served daily in the Manor House Garden and Tea Lounge, situated in the centre of the Manor House, with access to the residents’ only pool. The Montagu Bar and Library enjoys a quieter, historical feel and has a large selection of whisky, cognac and liqueurs on hand to tempt even the most serious reader. An original fireplace forms the centre-piece of the library with large leather wingback chairs and a writing desk adding to the ambience.

One of the best benefits of Fancourt’s central location on The Garden Route is that guests can head out on a wide choice of day trips (most of which are no more than an hour’s drive away), which could include a visit to an elephant sanctuary, the Cango Caves, an Ostrich Farm and even romantic boat cruises on the Knysna Lagoon. A tour operator is on-site to arrange guided tours should guests prefer not to self drive.

Beautiful beaches are just 15 mins drive away at the popular Heralds Bay.

For those who have not yet shared their vows - Fancourt also offers stylish and sophisticated wedding facilities including ballroom and gazebo, with the picturesque gardens and Outeniqua Mountains providing a beautiful backdrop for your special day.
