In recent weeks the major China city took giant strides in capturing a bigger slice of the international conventions and exhibitions market by opening yet another massive multi-million dollar state-of-the-art centre, bringing the tally to three.
In time for what will be a busy 2014 is the multi-million dollar Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing www.shcec.com.cn, complete with 25 meeting rooms, the largest measuring 3000 square metres, and two exhibition rooms, 6500 sq m each.
Conveniently, within walking distance of the centre is the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park, which boasts more than 500 guest rooms.
The latest addition to Shanghai joins the already established Shanghai International Convention Center www.shicc.net, which has as many as 30 meetings rooms (the largest 4400sqm) and an adjacent five-star hotel with 273 guest rooms. Nearby hotels, within walking distance of the cetre are the Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai (952 rooms), Grand Hyatt Shanghai (555 rooms), Park Hyatt Shanghai (174 rooms), Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai (678 rooms), and the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong (285 rooms).
On the site of the highly successful 2010 World Expo is the Shanghai Expo Center which has 85 meeting rooms, the largest 7200sqm, an auditorium with 2600 seats, a banquet hall with 4520 sqm, and a meeting room with 1890 sqm www.secc.com.cn. Nearby hotels include the Inter-Continental Shanghai Expo (384 rooms), Sheraton Shanghai Pudong Hotel & Residences (525 rooms) and the Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong (316 rooms).
