TAT praises the Eat Pray Shop at Ratchaprasong campaign to lure back tourists

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has praised the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) for its recent launch of the “Eat, Pray, Shop @ Ratchaprasong” campaign, saying it will help tell the world that Bangkok’s most popular shopping and entertainment district is well and truly open for business, not only commercially but spiritually.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “The campaign sums up the unique character of Ratchaprasong as the place to eat a range of cultural delicacies, to worship the highly-revered Hindu Gods and to shop ’til you drop. In addition, this area also boasts a wide range of accommodation, and is well-connected to other parts of Bangkok via the Skytrain and road systems.”
Launched by RSTA in cooperation with the area’s five major department stores, five hotels and more than 3,000 retail shops, the Eat, Pray, Shop @ Ratchaprasong campaign offers promotional activities in three areas.
The Eat campaign has been launched in cooperation with the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, Novotel Bangkok Siam Square, InterContinental Bangkok Hotel and Centara Grand at CentralWorld. These hotels are unnamed (4)offering discounts of 20-50% or come-3/pay-2 promotions in their dining outlets. Also included in the offer are free cooling drinks and numerous exclusive gifts for diners.
The Pray campaign showcases Ratchaprasong as the place for worshipping the most highly-revered of Hindu deities. There are seven major shrines in this area – the famous Erawan Shrine of Thao Maha Brahma at the corner of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Hotel, the Amarindradhiraja Shrine in front of Amarin Plaza, Narayana God or Vishnu Shrine in front of the InterContinental Bangkok Hotel, the Lakshmi shrine on the 4th floor of Gaysorn Plaza, the Trimurti and Ganesh Shrines in front of CentralWorld Shopping Complex and the Uma Devi shrine in front of Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri.
The Shop theme helps bring together some of Bangkok’s best malls with the area’s five major department stores including CentralWorld, Platinum Fashion Mall, Gaysorn Plaza, Amarin Plaza and Erawan Bangkok offering up to 70% discounts on high-fashion items, lifestyle products and accessories.
The ‘Eat, Pray, Shop @ Ratchaprasong campaign’ runs from today until 31 March, 2014.
Roads at Ratchaprasong intersection have been re-opened to normal traffic as of 3 March, 2014.
